Spanish Congress Affirms Ex-President Lied
The Spanish Congress voted today to condemn conservative ex-President Jos?© Mar??a Aznar for manipulating the facts after the terrorist bombings in Madrid on the 11th of March 2004. The condemnation claims that Aznar and his conservative Partido Popular (PP) attempted to use the bombings for political gains in the national elections later that March, and that they manipulated the information released to the public as part of that attempt.
The elections in Spain shortly after the Al Qaeda train bombings saw the largest turnout in recent Spanish history, and an overwhelming defeat of the conservatives in favor of the left leaning PSOE (Partido Socialista de Obreros de Espa?±a) headed by current President Zapatero.
