Venezuela Distributes Cheap Heating Oil to Poor Neighborhoods in Boston and New York
The government of Hugo Chavez, the current nemesis of the Bush administration, has begun a program of distribution of significantly discounted heating oil to poor residents and neighborhoods of Boston and New York as reported in El Pa??s.
Recipients include some 40,000 schools, day care centers and hospitals in Boston, as well as a similar number in New York. Chavez plans to extend this charity to other US cities as well.
Distribution is being conducted through Citgo, a partially Venezuelan owned oil company.
The Bush administration regularly attacks the Chavez government as having communist leanings, and for maintaining close relations with Castro and Cuba. No response yet from Bush with respect to this humanitarian gesture.
