Watching America
A relatively new web site, WatchingAmerica.com has been launched which offers Americans a glimpse of what the world thinks of Americans, American foreign policy, and American foreign relations. The web site, founded by the Brit, Robin Koerner, posts and English translation of articles from the foreign press within one day of original publication. No commentary is included–the articles are merely translated by volunteers, with links to the original articles for readers fluent in those languages.
Articles come from all over the world including the Middle East, Europe, Asia, etc.
I encourage you to take a look. Headlines such as Columbus' Discovery of America: History's 'Biggest Mistake. can seem terribly harsh to an American with little experience abroad, but there is no better way to find out what the world thinks of us than to read what they publish about us–and perhaps we’ll learn how our behavior as a nation is perceived by the majority.
